Consultation Services

"Consultation services in legal cases generally fall into three categories:

A person seeking legal advice about various Family Law issues may meet privately with an attorney at Sherlock | Clark | Anderson, LLP to discuss their questions in confidence to gain a better understanding of how the law may impact a situation. Our attorneys are frequently sought out to offer a second opinion in Family Law and Property cases. Clients may also wish to speak with an attorney for planning a divorce or simply for overview information about the divorce or child custody process.

Parties in Family Law mediation frequently retain an attorney to serve as his or her independent consulting attorney to provide them with legal advice during the mediation process and to review proposed agreements.

There are occasions where parties choose to represent themselves in Family Law cases but retain an attorney to consult with on an as-needed basis, review documents and assist in preparing pleadings and preparing for hearings.

When we are retained to provide consultation services, the consultation is confidential but we are not retained to represent the client in Court, and we do not become the attorney of record. The party decides how often to contact the attorney and on what issues he or she wishes to consult. Consulting attorneys do not handle or direct litigation, and the client retains the final responsibility for the legal action.

We offer free 30 minute consultation/case evaluation sessions for potential family law clients. To maximize the time and information a person seeking more advise can retain for the consultation service at a reduced hourly rate."
